All about Rich and Luis' new life in Canada, from our preparation for the move from New York, to our marriage in Victoria, finding an apartment in Vancouver, the trip west, settling in and finding jobs in our fields of journalism and medical technology, respectively.
As a journalist, of course I'll also write about some major news events, such as the election, and some weird news here and there.

The Locks at Sault Ste. Marie
We took a tour of the locks here. It's amazing descending in the boat as the water level lowers from the level in Lake Superior to the lower level of the St. Lawrence River, allowing access to the Atlantic Ocean more than 2,000 miles away.
I've heard about this many times but never saw photographs of it. Amazing how such an old system still works (kind of like Hermes except it doesn't crash). For a moment I thought you were going to write that you had found LOX at Sault Ste. Marine!
